Oscar
began his musical career in the Oak Cliff section of Dallas, Texas at age 16 as Lead Singer and Keyboard player in
his first Band "Obie and the Dallas City Blues". The D.C.B. was the first house band at the famous "Loft" and "THE Flair (later Candy's Flair) . One of his first lead guitarist's "Mike Jeffry"later played with Jimmy Buffet.
Oscar's band opened for Todd Rundgren and other major acts and played many Kappa Alpha and other Frat Parties at the University of Texas and Oklahoma as well as Baylor University and others in Texas and Oklahoma. Later he joined "Sounds
Incorporated" as Lead Singer which won the "Dallas Battle of the Bands in 1969 beating out a young Stevie Ray Vaughn and other great bands. Stevie was a friend and frequent guest at the bands practices in "(Cedar Hill) in the Oak Cliff Section of Dallas where many great names in music started out.
Later
he joined "Sunrise" which became one of the top show bands in Dallas.
Tired
of the "Club Scene" he moved to Atlanta Georgia and enrolled in college
where he studied (Voice)Opera Drama and majored in music performance. This is
where he fell in love with rich classical romantic style music. Still unable to read music He dropped out of College and began
composing and developed his own unique style of music based on beautiful
but simple melodies. Oscar still does not read or notate music and uses a unique style of composing he calls "Music Creation". He closes his eyes and goes into a deep meditative state and just starts playing and in a short time out comes a new song. Many are ready to record and others are in a sort of musical Short Hand. The process of composing music is so unconventional he nicknamed himself "The Alien Scribe" because of some of the strange new melodies and musical textures that comes out of his sessions. He also has an album out under the name "Alien Scribe" which is on the "Bleeding Edge" of improvisational composing.
In 2001 He completed a Musical and met with David DeSilva (FAME) in Manhattan to
get insights into the Broadway experience. David said of Oscar's music
"It is up there with the great Romantic masters".
This was just 3 weeks before 9-11.
Later, He released 6 songs from the musical to test the market and was surprised that 5 of them made it into the Top 40 charts on mp3.com several were in the top 5.
Oscar attributes his natural ability to compose music to the fact that when he was born his mother who is a pianist would place him beneath the grand piano next to her while she performed in Church services. He began singing at age 2 and composed his first song by age 4. He jokingly tells people that he was BORN UNDER A GRAND PIANO (STEINWAY TO BE EXACT).
